NYCSW: The Final Results

by

What did you do with your weekend? At Startup Weekend Mobile NYC, our participants formed new teams with complete strangers, worked through multiple pivots of a business idea, locked in several dozens of phone calls to real potential customers, created several iterations of design wireframes, and built impressive working prototypes of their phone applications.

At the end of an exciting weekend, all of the teams and their biggest fans gathered together to cheer on the final presentations. Our invited judges included five experts from the mobile space: Mike Dudas (Google Mobile Commerce), Alec Andronikov (Founder of MoVoxx), Veronika Sonsev (CEO of inSparq), David Ambrose (Travelzoo Mobile), and Ryan Charles (Founder of Consmr).  The teams were judged based on three categories: Customer Validation, Business Model, and Execution.

The winning team was announced by one of judges at the conclusion of our event on Sunday. Here are the full results:

First Place: HomeSpree is a smarter way to get home improvement estimates

Second Place: Trupa helps small businesses raise the funding they need.

Third Place: SGO helps you make plans with your friends to go out.

Then, in no particular order, here is a snapshot of all of the other startup ideas that were pitched on Sunday Night:

RecordHouse helps independent musicians find and book record studios

Tip my Task keeps you accountable for completing your to-do list

ZINK integrates all of your digital schedules in one place

Brewhaha changes the way people meet in coffeehouses

Honk lets you flirt with people at events

Aura lets you donate to charity every time you share your wifi hotspot
